Tuesday Siesta, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, is a short story that takes place in a small mountain town in Colombia. The main character is the mother of a recently murdered man who was caught trying to break into a woman's home. A mother and her daughter ride a train into town to go visit her son's grave. No one in the town knew who the man was all they knew was that he was shot in the face when he was caught breaking into a woman's house. When the mother gets to town she notices the vacant streets and realizes they went in the middle of their siesta. They went to the church looking for the priest to get the keys of the cemetery. The priest asked her who she was looking for, until then he hadn't realized what the mans name was. His name was Carlos Centeno Ayala. The priest notices that a group of people has formed outside and understood that they too wanted to know who this strange woman was and if she had any relation to Carlos. She too understood why they were there and decides to bravely face them. She walks out into the crowd, hand in hand with her daughter.
